Adium IRC chat
The Adium IRC channel is #adium on irc.freenode.net. Many of the AdiumDevelopers provide helpful support to users there. We are a friendly, open community with a light hearted attitude. Feel free to join us, be it to ask a question or to just hang out.
See GettingOnIRC for instructions on how to connect to IRC.
#adium Channel Rules
- The only stupid question is, "can I ask a question?".
- We DO NOT tolerate software piracy of ANY KIND, for ANY REASON.
- If someone needs help, then help them.
- Be patient with channel members. If you do not receive a reply immediately, perhaps no one that is present now knows the answer to your question.
- Treat everyone with respect. Especially those who freely give their time and advice. You are not paying us. We are not required to help you. We do so only because we want to.
- Do not flood the channel with ascii art, beeps, moronic messages, or stuff your mother would be ashamed of. Do not overuse color. It does not appear correctly on some of our IRC clients. Do not abuse the bots.
- Do not abuse the privileges that have been provided for you. Being a member of our community is a privilege, not a right.
- Do not ask for ops or special privileges of any kind.
- Above all, use common sense and have common courtesy.
- #adium needs to stay a support channel above all else. In order to maintain this, the channel will be pg-13, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- As a complement to rule 10, discussion of topics of an adult nature need to take place somewhere other than #adium. This rule specifically applies to discussions of a sexual nature, but can be applied elsewhere as well.
The channel rules are based on the rules for #macintosh on Undernet.
#adium-devl
The channel #adium-devl also exists. It has the same rules as #adium, except instead of a support channel it is a development channel. It was started as a higher signal place for Adium developers to talk about programming issues, please help us keep it that way.
