Adium crashes when removing randomly blocked Yahoo contacts

I've noticed that the ones block seem to be after a certain point in the alphabet, so I'm wondering if there is a certain maximum number of Yahoo contacts that Adium will allow. I know they're okay based on Yahoo Messenger though.

Debug logging could come in handy for this - see ReportingBugs.

It seems to be crashing on a libpurple function, though there appear to be no reports of any similar crashes using Pidgin on their Trac.

I have submitted the debug log via e-mail.

Could someone who has access to the email take a look at the debug log and see what we can do about it?

See #7744 for an understanding of what he means by randomly blocked Yahoo contacts. If this only happens when removing those particular contacts (but ones that work normally do not cause a crash) this may prove helpful in discovering why they are becoming blocked.

I was originally posting on 7744, but you asked me to create a new ticket, i.e. this one, on 1/11/08.

That hasn't really been updated since the Privacy Settings changed. So, I'm not sure what I'm supposed to glean from that. No answers were ever given it seemed in that thread.

Oh, my bad. I see you were directing others to the post. Clearly, I shouldn't be reading so late at night! But, yes, 7744 seems to be the original post on this topic. Sorry for the confusion on my part.

Essentially, what I mean is that certain Yahoo contacts are blocked in Adium only. They are not blocked in Yahoo or in other third-party chat software.

The contacts, however, are not really blocked in that they can still message and freely chat with me. They only appear to be blocked by Adium's contact list file. They do not show up in the Contacts List at all.

I cannot message them without typing in their entire Yahoo name in the new message window. I cannot unblock them from the Privacy Settings as that causes Adium to crash. I cannot unblock them from the Contacts List as they do not show up in. Unblocking from the message window also produces a crash.

Here's what I know for sure:

• This happened as part of a version upgrade. • The crashing is reproduceable. • According to the blist.xml file, the random blocks start at Mb.... But not all contacts after Mb... are blocked. • Unblocking contacts via the Privacy Settings and ignoring the messages does not modify the blist.xml. • Unblocking contacts via the Privacy Settings and ignoring the messages and then adding a contat does modify the blist.xml, but the unblocks are ignored. • Pulling my blist from another computer works until I restart Adium, then the problem continues.

7744 says it's been fixed, but it's just about a useless fix since i still can't unblock people without crashing.
