Adium deletes logs

Description

Two users on the feedback list have reported that when they updated to 1.1.2, all their logs up to the time of the upgrade were deleted. They do not show in the Chat Transcript Viewer, nor in the Logs folder, nor in Spotlight.

While this is an important problem, there is not a whole lot we can do without /some/ sort of steps to reproduce.

From what version were they upgrading?

I ask about the source version because 1.1.2 did not introduce any new upgrade code. There is 0.8x to 1.x upgrade code which is unchanged in recent releases; I consider this the only plausible source of the problem offhand, and it's odd that we've heard no such reports before 1.1.2.

I know I may be wrong, and since I'm unable to reproduce this issue, would it be possible to ask to one of the users that got the problem if they used Onyx ?

Because Onyx has now an option that erase all the chat logs, including iChat and Adium one's (I have been a victim of this...)

Peter: Have there been any more reports? If not I'm tempted, as Evan was, to close this rather than leaving it to molder.

This morning I have upgraded adium, but it has deleted all my logs and all my accounts :( it have saved only status and away messages :(

how can I do? :(

In #9343 a user states that they were presented with a dialog asking to move the items to the trash. Everyone seems to be using Sparkle for the updates in these cases. Is it possible that Sparkle would do this?

Ah. There is such a claim there :) I am very very doubtful that this is true, though. There's no text within Adium or its libraries that would even ask that question as far as I know. I'd seriously need a screen shot not to believe that the user was confabulating.

That was my thoughts as well. I think if we have no way to reproduce and nothing that points us to the location in the code for where this could be occurring, it should be closed.
