Description

i have added a new contact via MSN but each time i launch ADium, i get an error message: Buddy list synchronization issue in bbunyan@hotmail.com (MSN)

  • patch_status set to None.
  • milestone set to Needs feedback from users.

Please try Adium 1.0.2 and/or 1.0.3b. Also try removing your MSN account and re-adding it. You might also try removing the contact and re-adding it.

Does this happen with every contact that you add to WLM on Windows? What happens if you add the contact through Adium, does it work out fine on both?

I'm using Adium X 1.0.2 and this has been happening to me every single time I login to MSN. It only seems to happen with certain contacts. All of my contacts have been added via MSN on Windows. Interestingly, this problem was more sporadic before, and I hadn't seen it for a few weeks until a couple of days ago where it started happening consistently. Is there any debug information dumped somewhere that I can provide here?

Forgot to mention that I deleted and re-added my MSN account to Adium and I'm still getting this issue.

  • version changed from 1.0.1 to 1.0.2.

In the beta version, if you go to the Adium menu, then debug window, you can enable debug logging. Please attach it here after the problem has occurs - hopefully there will be some useful information!

  • keywords set to buddy contact list synchronization.

  • summary changed from synchronization to Contact list synchronization issue after deleting or moving contact in WLM8.
  • milestone changed from Needs Feedback - Received to Needs dev review.

I've also seen this with other users who use WLM8 sometimes as well.

#6735 is a similar issue.

  • priority changed from normal to high.
  • version changed from 1.0.2 to 1.0.3.

#6898 is another occurence of this, however in that report Adium locks up because it keeps cycling between reports of the same two contacts... going to set this to a bit higher priority in case that new report holds any value.

I have the exact same problem, with it cycling through two users in MSN.

  • milestone changed from Needs dev review to Waiting on libpurple.

#p945, #p946, #p947

Two of those will eventually be closed.

what does Waiting on libpurple mean?

05/13/2007 05:47:35 PM changed by jas8522

Libpuple is the core of adium that handles all service connectivity - basically it allows you to connect to the MSN, AIM, YIM, Jabber, etc. servers and handles all the low level networking interchange of messages/notification. Waiting on libpurple means that this is currently an issue with libpurple that needs to be fixed and usually requires no (or minor) adjustment of the Adium code to match the fix in libpurple once it is repaired.

The release notes for 1.0.5 mention that a libpurple update has taken care of this issue, however I'm still experiencing it with this latest version. No change in behavior. I updated through the autoupdater. Should I reinstall from scratch?

07/11/2007 10:31:17 AM changed by pilgrim

Actually, my mistake. The libpurple update apparently fixes the random auth failed messages and not this issue. Woops!

Same problem here, just started a couple of days ago.

This can be "fixed" by deleting the User account in /User/YOURMACUSER/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0. Probably due to a .plist corruption or something similar. Deleting the folders in this directory should remove the problem (you will surely experience some data lost (backup if you don't want to lose anything)

I edited groups on the latest WLM in windows and have experienced this problem. Deleting blist.xml in /User/YOURMACUSER/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0/Users/Default/libpurple/ solved the problem for me.

This worked perfectly! Haven't had to click away any annoying popups since! Thanx
