Borderless contact list with dock-like hiding can disappear

Description (Last modified by evands)

I also have a problem with the contact list disappearing. I'm using Adium X 1.0.4 on Mac OS X 10.4.9, but have been having this problem since version 1.0.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. In Preferences > Advanced > Contact List, set the contact list to hide on screen edges
  2. In Preferences > Appearance, make sure the window style for the contact list is NOT "Regular Window" (ie the contact list is completely invisible when no accounts are connected)
  3. Move the mouse away from the screen edge (so that the contact list is hidden)
  4. Put the computer to sleep (or just disconnect all accounts)

Wake the computer (or reconnect)

  1. Before Adium reconnects, move the mouse to the screen edge (which would normally show the contact list if it was connected)
  2. Once connected, the contact list will not show. As a workaround, choosing Window > Contact List (command-/) two or three times will show it again.

Replying to corradomac:

My contact list completely disappeared; clicking window - contact list in the menu bar won't help; even restarting my mac won't fix the problem. Adium 1.0.1 & Mac OS 10.4.8. Services used : ICQ & MSN. Many thanks!

I found a solution : clicking "hide others" under "adium" in the menu bar did reappear the contact list. Ticket can be closed!

The problem is still there and I can't fix it with the solution (hide others). Can the ticket be reopened please? Contact list completely disappeared. Active application : Mail, Camino, iChat, Skype, Freecom Internet Phone, iTunes and of course Adium.

Same here, please reopen.

Adium 1.0.1. I can't see contact list, nothing helped (Window/Contact List, Hide Others, ...).

#8051 describes a seemingly reproducible scenario

Actually going to use #8051 as it is more specific, and we still have no idea what the cause of this problem is - I cannot reproduce it no matter what I try.
