Description

Enhancement request: The ability to rename a group of contacts. Creating a new one, then moving them all over, then deleting the old one is a hassle.

would like to be able to rename contacts. i imagine it would be difficult for many users to track the contacts on their list by their sn. the only way i've found so far is to add a contact and then choose its alias name. but how to change names of existing contacts?

can u enable this rename function by having it available when you right-click on contact name?

Uhm... you can change the alias of any existing contact in its Get Info window. You cannot, however, rename a contact group. Can we leave this ticket intact for its original purpose/request?

This issue should be closed, all you have to do is right click on the contact list name, select get info, go to the settings tab, and change the name there.

Silly blktiger, all that does is change the alias, not the actual group name.

Renaming of groups is scary though... I don't trust libgaim not to delete the groups while trying to rename them.

Isn't that what it is, evan? Delete and create, then re-add contacts?

Depends on the service... but we're kinda up a creek without a paddle of Gaim deletes and then fails to re-add.
