Description

Adium Buddy Controls for Parents.

Let specify the set of buddy handles that a child is allowed to chat with. Like iChat in Tiger but for all accounts in Adium (MSN, Jabber, Yahoo!, ...)

Thanks ;-)

I'd be interested in writing a feature like this, or at least looking into it.

Definitely interesting, but not High priority.

Great feature to prevent any MSN-Messenger - or other - "intruders". I certainly would use this feature to manage my kids "safe" contact list ;)

How about we just get blocking going, and then you only allow specific handles from there? Hmmmm?

I think this is blocking (specifically, only chat with folks that are on your list). Closing as duplicate

I think differently. It's a little more than blocking - simplistically it's about having authorisation to block/unblock people or adjust an account's privacy settings (which Adium lacks at the moment). If this is a feature you'd like to see in Adium, please re-open this ticket.

I agree with others that blocking is not the same as the original request for buddy control.

Parental control of buddys would enable a parent account to approve or decline new contact requests from a child's account. This is different to allowing a user to block contacts in their own account.

Implementing parental control is very desirable.

It's essential have parental control in this kind of programs

I wholeheartedly agree with jneill: in addition, it would also be good to set limits on how much time a child can spend chatting (e.g. hours per day / week / month); or perhaps just a timer for all chat activity showing how much time has been spent in the last day/week/month to help kids (and parents) better appreciate how much time just flies by!
