Cannot view/chat with certain buddies (even though they are online)

Description

I am using Adium 1.3.2 on OSX 10.5.5. Until recently I had no problem with Adium. Last week however, with at least one buddy they appeared as off-line (and I off-line to them) even though both of us were online and could chat with mutual buddies. Neither of us are blocked. This happens every time we sign into Adium/restart the computer, etc. Thanks for your help...?
