Adium contradicts itself about online/offline status

Description

In the contact list, a contact is shown as online. When i try to speak to him, though, i get a message that he is offline. I'll attach a screenshot - it's quite confusing.

What version of Adium were you using? Can you reproduce the problem?

I see this every time I start a chat with Robby on jabber (but not gtalk). Contact list shows his correct status, but the icon on my message windows tab indicates that he's offline. I get the dialog asking if I want to send the message even though he's offline. I saw it earlier today using r25146 on OS X 10.5.4. I'm pretty sure I've also see it on 1.3.x, but Robby's not online right now for me to verify. I don't think this was a problem for 1.2.x, but I used 1.3 beta/svn for so long I'm not certain.

1.3.1 behaves as I described, but 1.2.7 is a little different. The tab icon still indicates that robby is offline, but when I try to message him it goes through without asking if I really want to message someone who is offline. So the "do you want to send" dialog appears to be a 1.3 regression, while the wrong tab icon predates that.

I've been seeing this problem a lot lately with a couple AIM contacts. They show up as still online in my buddy list (and there's no record of disconnection in an open chat window or the transcript viewer), but when I try to message them I get this: "Could not send because XXXX is not available." Signing off and back onto my account fixes their visibility, but it still never recorded when they logged off.

I've had this problem as well. The same as with ModernElectri, if I log off and back in fixes their visibility (hadn't checked what the recorded out times were, so I can't say on that aspect)
